Customers acknowledge that transportation and logistics operations involve multiple third parties and factors beyond the reasonable control of Vernon G. Edwards Ltd.

 

Customs Duties, Taxes, and Import Fees

 

Customers are solely responsible for all applicable:

​

• Customs duties

• Import and export taxes

• Value-added taxes (VAT)

• Goods and Services Taxes (GST)

• Excise taxes

• Brokerage fees

• Governmental assessments

• Inspection fees

• Regulatory charges

Unless otherwise agreed in writing, such charges are not included in quoted transportation rates and may be collected before delivery, at customs clearance, or upon receipt of an invoice.

 

Failure to pay customs duties, taxes, or related fees may result in shipment delays, storage charges, return of goods, seizure, or disposal by customs authorities.

 

Customs Compliance

 

Customers are responsible for ensuring that all shipment documentation, declarations, permits, licenses, product classifications, and regulatory filings are complete, accurate, and compliant with applicable laws.

 

Vernon G. Edwards Ltd. shall not be liable for delays, penalties, fines, seizures, or additional costs resulting from inaccurate documentation or regulatory non-compliance by the customer.

Delays Beyond Company Control

 

Vernon G. Edwards Ltd. shall not be liable for delays, interruptions, service failures, additional costs, or delivery disruptions caused by circumstances beyond its reasonable control, including but not limited to:

 

• Customs examinations or holds

• Government actions or regulatory requirements

• Weather events and natural disasters

• Port congestion

• Labor strikes or work stoppages

• Transportation network disruptions

• Airline, ocean carrier, rail, or trucking delays

• Security inspections

• Public health emergencies

• Cybersecurity incidents

• Force majeure events

In such circumstances, delivery schedules may be extended without liability to Vernon G. Edwards Ltd.

 

Customer Notification of Delays

 

Where reasonably practicable, Vernon G. Edwards Ltd. will make commercially reasonable efforts to notify customers of significant shipment delays and provide updated status information as it becomes available.

However, Vernon G. Edwards Ltd. cannot guarantee the availability or accuracy of information provided by third-party carriers, customs authorities, ports, terminals, or regulatory agencies.

 

Storage and Additional Charges

 

Shipments delayed due to customs processing, customer actions, incomplete documentation, refusal of delivery, regulatory requirements, or other circumstances beyond the control of Vernon G. Edwards Ltd. may be subject to:

• Storage fees

• Demurrage charges

• Detention charges

• Warehouse handling fees

• Return transportation costs

• Additional carrier charges

Such costs shall be the responsibility of the customer.

International Shipping Notice: International shipments may be subject to customs duties, taxes, brokerage fees, inspections, and regulatory requirements imposed by destination countries. These charges are the responsibility of the customer unless otherwise agreed in writing. Delivery timelines are estimates only and may be affected by customs processing, carrier operations, weather, or other events beyond our control.
